Shark Madness

We went for a SCUBA dive in Suwarrow with some friends from another boat, about 3 min after dropping down to a modest 24 feet we approached a ledge drop-off. Within a few minutes we were surrounded by about 15 grey sharks, we huddled together as they darted at us aggressively. Grey sharks are responsible for most attacks on snorkelers and spearfishermen in the northern Cook Islands. After another 5 minutes the amount of sharks doubled....It is hard to tell from the video but there are about 30 sharks circling us, mostly greys, with a couple white and black tips in the mix. Aftert the dive we all agreed, it was scary...I have dove with sharks before, but these ones were exhibiting the lowered pectoral fins with a sinuous swimming motion that denotes they are in predator mode. only 2 years before the original Suwarrow caretaker named Papa John was bit badly by a grey, but made it out of the water before they finished him off...........Music courtesy of Blackalicious(Gift of Gab and chief X-cel). sorry for the video quality, I had to lower it to manage to upload from Samoa with slow internettin'
